Prices and the rate

The shop is priced in ETH and follows the CONVOY rate, with guards against sudden moves.

Everything in the shop has a fixed price in ETH, and the game shows it in CONVOY at the current rate. A bicycle is always about 0.001 ETH, whether a CONVOY is worth a lot or a little today. This keeps the game affordable to join and stops a rising or falling token from pricing new players out, or giving crew away. The prices are counted in a unit of 0.0005 ETH; no dollar rate is read anywhere.

From ETH to CONVOY

The CONVOY price is the ETH price divided by the rate, rounded up to a whole CONVOY. The rate comes from the CONVOY/ETH pool: the game reads the pool's price every few seconds, and the rate is that price, or the median of the last 5 minutes of it when that is lower. One CONVOY is a few billionths of an ETH, so the header shows the rate for a million: 1M CONVOY = … ETH (on a narrower screen it is at the top of the account menu).

What you paid stays what you paid. Your power does not follow the rate at all: it is the list price of what you bought, 1,000 PWR per 0.0005 ETH, so a bicycle counts the same whether CONVOY was cheap or dear when you bought it.

The rate moves with the market

CONVOY trades freely, and its price can move a long way in minutes. When it falls, the shop follows straight away: everything costs more CONVOY seconds later. When it rises, the shop gets cheaper only as the rise holds, once the 5-minute median has caught up (about 3 minutes). A rise of a few seconds never makes anything cheaper.

WhatHow it works
The price you payThe CONVOY price at the moment of the purchase. It can differ from the one you saw a moment earlier
What you already boughtKeeps what it cost. Its power is its list price, at any rate
The vault's daily capDoes not follow the minute's price. It moves only from finished days, at most by a factor of two at a time
